Haven;t played it yet, i don't play 9 gauge strings so i just pulled it all off and started cleaning and oiling the board.
It was quite dry but the zebra grain pattern to it is lovely now it's darker not so prominent.
Frets already polished is a nice touch.
B string nut slot was too tight for the string so would have been tuning nightmare when i fitted a set of 10's.
5 Minutes with the clipped end off the old B and G string running it through back and forth and it's fine but it's worth looking at if you get one of these, especially if you're just going to sit down and play it straight away on the strings it comes with.
The pop-in tremolo arm is really, REALLY good !
No play at all and a very positive click with tension adjustment. Mine came set perfectly.
I use Dunlop fretboard conditioner which is soaking in now so i'll string it back up soon and take some better photo's.
This one's from Andertons who were brilliant.
Thanks Lee.
I wasn't sure?
You do know it's a stratocaster yeah? Just checking......
The new neck profile and frets were instantly 'The way it should be' to my hands and it does sound incredible.
I said some pretty *negative things about Strats so it was nice to have all that dispelled with this guitar.
* I think i should probably apologise to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Lovely colour... especially with a rosewood board.
Case looks nice and furry too.
I carried this 2 miles home from the DPD collection point (Missed the courier yesterday) and it was really comfortable to carry.
The inside is really well made and the pocket is the full width of the case so you can fit a fair amount of stuff in there.
It's properly shaped and there's a recess for the headstock.
It doesn't have the annoying, cheap, squeeky feel that the old ABS cases had and the latches are great this time.
If Fender are trying hard it shows with this model.
At no point yet do i regret doing this.
It's just how i always wanted a Strat to be and the 'Experience' of getting this brand new is brilliant.
Well done Fender, praise where it's due.
Right, board is dry enough.
Get it set up and playing.
And then wine.
*Big* Glasses.
I really hope the USA have risen to the incredible challenge set by the recent MIM guitars......especially the Classic Player Models. If your guitar is a step up from that, you must be very happy indeed.
