Truss rod on a Thunderbird

So, got the girlfriend an Epi Thunderbird, basically it's brilliant but there seems to be an issue.

The bridge is at its lowest but the action is still too high. There is too much relief in the neck but the truss rod won't tighten any more. It will loosen no problen so there's no issue with the thread, but it just won't tighten any more. Any suggestions?

    It sounds like it may be bottoming out on the thread. If so you need to put a washer - or possibly more than one - under the adjuster nut to give it a bit more travel.

    One which is small enough to fit down the hole and is large enough for the truss rod to go through it...
