Storing Wood

Any advice on storing wood?

At the moment, my lumps of wood are in my workshop, which is a spare room. The temperature ranges from a bit cold to no more than about 20°. Humidity is low, such that my cast iron tools and machines don't get any rust. The wood stash is building up and I'm thinking of moving it into a walk-in cupboard in the hall. Humidity is similar to the workshop, while temperature is consistently at the cooler end. Are there likely to be any issues with taking wood that's been in there for a long time into the warmer workshop? Should I wait for it to reach the ambient temperature in the workshop before working it? (Let's say it's a +10° shift.)

Also, what about things like racking and orientation of the wood while it's being stored? Is there a preferred way to do this?

You need air to circulate I think when stacking
You put small sticks in between the wood, mind you I'm not sure if that's just drying wood but I know a place that had wood stacked for 20 years with the sticks in between for air to circulate
Can't remember any temp/ humidity stuff though
