Good Fretboard Theory needed

I have just started to learn the guitar, I am trying to find a good theory book that explains the fretboard, what all the notes are and why they are where they are, and what makes up a chord and why etc  can anyone recommend a good book,

I've recommended him before, but JustinGuitar has loads of information regarding theory and how it applies to guitar in particular. You can also buy his theory course for a tenner (only ebook by the looks).

There's also the practical side: knowing where notes are, what chord shapes are where etc is something that has to be learned through experience.

For the notes there are some nice mobile apps that make a game of identifying them.

Chords and Scales for Guitarists is an excellent book by David Mead that will provide all the information needed in a very clearly written style. There is a CD with it.

I'm not sure if it is still in print but it is definitely worth tracking down a copy.
