Focusrite 2i2 + MacBook = woes

So i finally got round to sticking everything together and getting my home recording setup going. You will have to forgive me coz I am a PROPER I.T. numpty. I can record and monitor through my speakers whilst recording but when it comes to playing back there's no sound. I checked in system preferences and it says that the 2i2 has no output???? Can anyone shed any light on this for me PLEASE!!!! And again please treat me like an absolute idiot Thanks

Hmmm Google suggests it might be a common fault with the Scarlett. I'll wait till tomoro and have me some live help chat action but it's looking like a return :-( in the meantime if anyone does know anything climb on board!

I assume the meters are showing there is signal?

Yeah sound going in and can see that it's recording properly.

ahhhhh no idea!!! some sort of compatibility issue i think. i had to delete some focus rite stuff out of the applications folder on the mac? i assume this should mean something to someone out there. I'm afraid i don't really have a clue!!!!

Focusrite haven't been secretly taken over by Behringer have they?

They seem to be attracting a steady pile of faults.

Too right. Plenty of mention over on Gearslutz about 2i2 problems. I wouldn't touch one with the proverbial cattle prod. 

Steinberg UR22 on the other hand has performed superbly since I bought it.
