Well if Marshall did a modern mk 1 Guv'nor reissue in a smaller box, or even a 2 channel version aka a RAT Deucetone then that'd be great. But as they are a Fridge & Headphone brand now. And seemingly completely oblivious to the expanding pedalboard market, So I 'd suggest the Carpe Diem by Fire. The Dirty Little Secret by Catalinabread. Or if you want more 70's tone a Carl Martin Plexitone Solo.

Im sure there are more. They are just the ones I've tried.

There are loads of great pedals of this sort but I would avoid JHS like the plague.

    J rocket animal.
I had one of them. They are brilliant. But I thought it was really noisy compared to my Goosoniqueworx 7thvn. I'd suggest that, but they seem to have disappeared from retailers now.

  • Had a Be-OD, but too high gain for me...even when tweaked....great sound but looking for Angus style.  Yep...Riot or Guv'nor...not keen on JHS....SHOULD have kept my Warthog!!

  • A marshall pedal like a guvnor or a shredmaster??
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • I offloaded my JHS pedal recently, and then shortly afterwards discovered that the owner of the company was a bigoted uber-Theist.

    I wouldn't buy a jhs either.

For a modern take I'd take a Suhr riot and always had good results with them.
with a bit more sag and brown sound I really like the Wampler pinnacle.
A higher gain - Friedman be-od sounds good in the clips and for something less gainy I like the clips of the carpe diem.

Others I've had liked include the Carl Martin plexitone and the mi crunch box although I found the cb lacking a bit of character compared to the others.

    Suhr Riot is a re-hash of the mk 1 Guv'nor I believe.
