It's a short step from counting in ks to (*shudder*) entering the abomination of an event which is a "kilomathon"!

5 miles today too! My running partner chickened out as it was wet when she got injured last time. Honestly, a few drops of rain is all it is. At the moment. Before the THUNDERSNOW!

I'm waiting until it starts to snow and then going out.
    Yeah, I'm that hard.

I've not run on the road since 2010. I've done some light treadmill in a gym within the last 7 years since Hernia op's...this bloody thread has made me do 2 runs this week, I'm guessing 2k a run. It's not pretty to watch so I've gone out in the cover of darkness.
I have completed half marathon's and 10 k's in the past, but its heartbreaking to see my fitness so low :s

I can sympathise! My fitness probably didn't suffer too much and I only had 8 months out, but my 2014 fitness level (I switched to cycling for a bit) seems so far away and probably is.

    I can entirely sympathise, mate.
Just keep at it- eventually you'll be back to where you were.

I got bored waiting and went out whilst it was sleeting.

    January 12th: 43km+ 6km = 49km.
Already over my target for the week (needed to be at 46km by Saturday to be on track) so anything else I do this week is a bonus.

I went to the local shop for some milk a little while ago.

It is fecking freezing! No snow yet, but it's cold enough to make the lungs complain.

Let's talk chafe in the nipular region.... since I started upping the distance I've been getting some discomfort.

    Is there anything that works?
    A preemptive KYing?
    Special running top?
Cutting them out with a rusty razor?

I've got an Under Armour Coldgear top. It has a brushed inside that is very comfy.

It will probably be too hot in the summer, but nipples lie flatter then too.

Well done all. I've been struck down by man-flu and a sore throat so  activities have been suspended for now. Hopefully back running by the weekend!

Vaseline has worked fine for me in the past

Arghh. I was trying to attach a picture of a runner with the nips cut out of their shirt but my mobile isn't playing ball with with the image attachment. Edited with proper reply

Surgical tape.  You can also use physio sports tape.  I also use a thin tape called Hapla-band (from amazon) to tape nips and also toes for really long runs.  Didn't get any chaffe or blisters on my 100 miler. Vaseline rubs off.

Just cut a square big enough to cover and job done.
