New guitar £2,500 budget...what would you get?

What's Hot

I have been given permission by Mrs Flagg to spend £2,500 on a new guitar. Lucky me!

I currently have:

Gibson Standard Historic 58 Les Paul
Fender American Vintage 52 Telecaster
Martin D28

What would you get to go with them? I want something brand new, not S/H unless it's it really excellent condition.

I'm thinking Strat, maybe Custom Shop

I would probably try an Anderson Raven. I might even end up with one.

Gibson for me.  Some great deals about.

Used in shops I've seen some R9 for £2750 too if you fancy a slimmer neck.

    Depends on your style...

I'd be going Mayonaise Regius 6, or maybe a custom build from Skervesen, but these don't sound like your bag.

I definitely think a custom job though, something that is unique to you.

  • Strat or failing that a bass (assuming you don't already have one).

To me, unless you know what you're missing, a Strat, Telecaster, and your choice of twin HB Gibson type covers the vast majority of tones.

    The Martin.

For electric a Fano or Duesnberg.

  • Defo try some suhr, Anderson, more boutique stuff. Are you near a fancy shop or UK builder?

Not really near anywhere, except the North Sea, out on the east coast of Norfolk

Having found out now how good a good Fender is, i would go for a Custom Shop Strat.

Personally it would be a Dakota Red 60's model.

I'd be looking at hollow-body.  335?  PRS HB2? Collings?  Maybe even Gretsch.

Agreed - I'd looking at White Falcons or 330's or maybe a semi so a 335 63 Reissue.

Maybe even a Ric? You are a massive Jam fan?

You are a sick individual. I wouldn't know whether to play it, ride it or open a can with it

To be fair, you didn't say the obligatory 'nothing pointy'
