Someone on TDPRI is building a replica of this (God only knows why!) concensus is that although this was owned by Mike Bloomfield, a subsequent lefty owner tastefully modded it, with the delightful cutaway.........
looks like the devil's horns how could someone turn such an innocent blonde tele into something satanic is beyond me
They used a Gibson strap button. Didn't they know *anything*?
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone."
Although not to everybody's taste there is some skill involved in the carving.
Are you sure? It looks like a 12 year old's drawing of a horse. As for the fitment of the pickguard/bridge and shaping of the body, well that's even more laughable

Interesting that most of the wear on it appears to be from its time as a right-hander not lefty.
EXACTLY, I don't know what has gone into Gibson's mind when they released a headstock like that last year. Upon closer inspection, it looks like a kid has scribbled something ugly onto the headstock and from a distance, the scribbled words look like a fat yellow slug just laying there.
But I love the mini E-tunes once you get the hang of them.
That headstock is horrific! I'm sure if it could speak it would say "kill me know, please kill me now!" Got to admire the clearance for the 4th string tuner.
Googled that image as it looks like it was in early stages of repair. Found the website of the guy who fixed it up. It had been coverted to a three aside style headstock. There's a load more photos here http://www.forresterkustoms.com/photos3.html plus he also sorted out the hideously mutilated 63 Strat headstock http://www.forresterkustoms.com/photos.html
That humbucker rotator would be pretty awesome to have in a shop so people can directly compare pickups without faffing about taking the guitar to bits.

I think it's a great idea. Saves the BS guesswork and popular opinions as to what a pickup should sound like. You could just go to a store and have a listen for yourself. Obviously the construction and string gauge etc make a difference, but it would certainly give you a better insight.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

It's brilliant and it looks cool too. Shouldn't really be in this thread at all, but I'm glad to have seen it!
And I am fairly sure the gibson was not chopped... most of these had a join between the centre line and top 3rd. its not usual to see see severe wood movement on them... look at the join locations on this firebrand SG.

so 1/3 of the body has fallen off the guitar from where the wooden joint is? that could be possible I guess if the adhesive has worn off and the body's finish is very thin
After sharing many pictures here, I am now confident and inspired to install a recessed 1980s Kahler Spyder Floyd Rose with EMG 85 + EMG 60 into my vintage 1967 maple-cap neck Fender Stratocaster
