After reading all the great reviews i'm going for the Boss Katana combo, but 50 or 100 ?? ,I want to plug my Zoom G3 through it ,don't gig yet but have some jam sessions, will the 100 be wasted on me? or will I buy the 50 and get jamming then wish i'd went for the 100  for extra oooomph ??? also has the 100 extra feature tthat the 50 doesn't have ?

    The 100 has a line out and 4 presets, you can use a separate footswitch to access these presets, plus turn effects on and off.  The 50 has 2 presets which you can toggle between.   If you are using the G3 you mot need this feature as much.

    I've not tried the 50, but the 100 on 50watt mode is plenty loud.

    I think for small jams and home use, the 50 would be the best bet, it's slightly smaller and lighter too.

    But it does take pedals very well in my limited experience with it.

  • The 100 can be had as a 2x12 which has to be a win right?

    20kg versus 15kg...15kg is perfect grab and go weight and it goes hard from the feedback I'm reading.  Ive got the head.

    I'd get the 100 and not bother with the G3.

  • Have you considered the Blackstar ID core 150w - full stereo. Cheaper and light as a feather

    @andyoz Goes hard?
     so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

  • I own a Katana 100w head this is the only model with speaker out jack, all combos do NOT have speaker out, also you can control channels from any Midi equipped effect pedal and its internal 5" speaker very loud , all in all I'm very impressed also it's half the price of similar Blues Cube unit.

    I'd just get the100w unless moneys tight as you'll probably end up flipping a 50w for a 100w anyway.  The combo isn't exactly big and 15kg is perfect combo weight.

    You'll want the footswitch soon enough too as its really well sorted.

    I just picked up a 50...but only spent 5 mins with it so far but was impressed with the features and tones....the low wattage setting still growls too. Very happy with it so far

  • I was going to say, if you wanted an amp for a modeller, you'd be better off with the Jazz Chorus.

    Especially now they have stereo inputs on some models.

  • I've got a 100. Only had it for a week or so but really impressed. Went for the 100 for the extra features which I thought was worth the additionally £85.  Don't think you will be disappointed with either though.

    Why they make the 50 without an fx loop is beyond me.

    Stupid decision.
