various factors will come into play -

original finish and original parts - to me a good refret won't have any impact on the price, but it should enhance the playing performance and as such make it easier to sell to a player - If original frets, then what condition are they in and any playing left them or a fret dress or refret required

    Original case

On this 65 Jag - does it have the stamped on the neck plate - transition period on that based on the sale to CBS - won't have any impact on the guitars features and spec etc as chances are all the actual components would still have been build prior to the CBS takeover - But nevertheless certain collectors will want the plain neck plate to reflect the pre-CBS period

Is it a Jag you intend to buy or sell

  • I know of a near mint 66 with original case for £2.5k so I reckon around that sort of price in excellent original condition.

    Yup, 2500-3250.

I sold my 1965 CAR for 4k, but that's CAR.

  • Interesting - I assumed they would be more! How much would an equivalent Jazzmaster cost, roughly the same? Ideally in the future I'd like an older Jazzmaster (58-61/62) with the older spec pickups - assuming 'player grade' how much would that set me back??

Significantly more. £4-5k at least... and in the U.K., up to about 6 or 7
