    Brilliant!

I often wondered why they'd not done one before. Looks amazing.

Amazing player that was always there but never in the public eye, he was always overshadowed by wee Jimmie Krankie.

I think you'd have to be a massive fan to want that guitar, because, with the best will in the world it looks a right dog with the gaping pick up holes.

Just my personal opinion mind, and largely irrelevant because I will never have the money to get one!

I think that's the whole point though...or for the AC/DC tribute band who need that 110% authenticity...

  • Oh my. Want one, even more than the CS Aged AY.

It'll be 6k+ though, so I won't be having one unless I win the lottery.

Malcolm Young Sig is built by Stephen Stern - not sure if this is a one of build for the show or additional quantities are available - I'll find out - based on today's exchange rate it will be £9000

    Have they not?

I remember lusting after a new MY sig back in the 90's, but thinking back I don't think that had the empty pickup holes, just a single bridge one

    I love that!

I've been getting ideas about trying to find a used single pickup MY model they did (can't remember the model name / number) but they seem pretty hard to come by and are probably too much money for me anyway.

  • Not at that price. Lol

This thread made me realise something...

I don't get the Relic thing at all. But I totally get the replica thing (worn or not).

They did a couple of models, a natural one pickup and a red one too but never a replica of the original with the empty holes.

Jaydee made 2 sort-of-replicas for Mal back in the day.

I'm sort of sorry that this one doesn't have the 'bishop's hat' plate covering the Burns vibrato rout. I love the story that Mal never twigged it was a stylised depiction of a knob (male member variety) :)

At $10,000 you might buy 2 originals and mod them yourself..!!
Anyhoo, if there is anyone genuinely after one of the original Gretsch 6131 Malcolm Young I signatures with 'high sensitive filtertron' bridge pickup only, bought new around about 2001/2 , let me know as I may just let mine go at the right price (no giveaways or silly offers mind, don't need to sell!).

10k for a bit of wood and one pickup!

A Pro Jet and a bit of sandpaper will get you close enough that most audiences wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Dont get me wrong, I love a nice Gretsch, and have a custom shop model, but this is just a bit too money-grabby for me.

I think they've all sold already despite our protestations.
