Prince - Crimson and Clover Live 2009

Love this clip. Prince had such a stage presence and charisma and could play a note or 2 as well. Brilliant:

    The epitome of cool

    Such a loss.

Not even 'the wider trouser' diminishes him. Really regret not making the effort to see him play....

Stage presence for days for sure.
Big fan since the early 80s and I've always thought he looks so natural with a guitar.
Look for his Montreux 2009 performance - it's rather good.

And this one just because I always dug the bass interludes in the live shows.

  • Remember the rumours in the 80s/90s that he was going to play Hendrix in a film about his life.
Would have been a good fit.

I grew up up on Sign o the Times. That concert is just so good and shows off his playing.

Peer pressure got got me though and although lovesexy was great, the front cover with him naked got me laughed at too many times :(

Had to go all HipHop and pretend to be hard to save grace............

I'm fairly sure he's miming in the first clip.

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

What The Crimson and Clover track? I really don't think so. What version would you suggest he is mining to? It's nothing like the recorded version on the Lotusflower album.

    it's live:

Shiela E's drums are fully mic'd

Prince turns to the band to give a visual cue at 2m58s for the impromptu solo break music which is not on the studio recording (not sure if it's the Ellen show theme tune?), indicating that they had only rehearsed it briefly beforehand

You can hear the effects on the guitar at the end being turned on and off, especially the BF-2 flanger which he often used just briefly in solos or endings.

You can see and hear Rhonda Smith turning her bass overdrive pedal on and off.

Wow, that's great ; if that's miming they went to a lot of trouble to get it right, would have been easier to just play the song(s)  =)
