Wet and Dry amp/fx set up

I've just been watching todays 'That Pedal Show'  i.e. vibrato (See below around 39.00).  Something was a little unclear to me in their demo towards the end (unless I skipped it ) Did all Dan's fx go to the WET amp i.e. overdrive, delay and Vibrato? Or did the ODs went to the DRY amp and the delay and modulation/Vibrato go to the WET amp?

OD to both amps. Delay, vibraro etc... to wet only.

I always thought a wet dry set up is no fx going to one amp and all fx go to the other ?

How does one set that up if you're a mere mortal like me who doesn't have or want a G2

Would need to split the signal after your dirt pedals, something like this, probably much cheaper options out there.

Actually I do have a splitter but I can't work out how to wire a board up to make it work like that Lol I've been down this route before I think on here and it got very complicated. I think I'll leave it..... anyway what audience really notices the difference except for ourselves

Gigrig humdinger is a good option as it has phase reversal and ground lift. It's pretty easy to set up - run your drive pedals from the guitar as normal then split after the last drive pedal with (say) the humdinger and have one output go to your "dry" amp (thus just getting the drive tones only), and the second output continues the journey to your delay, chorus, reverb etc then on to your second "wet" amp (thus having all effects including the drive and the "wet" stuff).

The thing is I don't always go out with two amps so this would make things difficult to set up / rewrire the board etc. I think I'll leave it as it is i.e. One amp gets all the fx and the other dry etc

Not really. If you only take 1 amp, you would just take your "wet" one. No rewiring required.

Get an FX8... simple, hassle free, two amp use and no messing around.

I watched a recent episode where they used three amps, two in stereo and one dry in the centre. (I think).

Can anyone tell me what did it mean when he's using three amps in wet/dry/wet, when he talks about which amp is acting as the earth and then he talks about safety issues?
I know FA about electricity other than don't touch it and get someone who knows how.

Does the signal cable pose a threat to safety?
I've heard of old amps where something goes wrong and they turn the strings live but i didn't know there was any risk on a modern amp other than a loud noise telling me "That's not going to work" !

I get what he means by isolated outputs from the signal splitting 'Box' but again, i thought that was to do with signal quality i had no idea it was for safety reasons too.

Can anyone explain this to a caveman who can't even solder properly ?

No, the bit your not getting is that the OD goes to both amps, the delay reverb to one amp only. So if you use the "wet" output only (for one amp) you get everything. You would need to tone down the level on your reverb, delay etc if using one amp as you can crank them way higher when using wet / dry, but that's it.

Dare I ask you @dindude how one go about wiring that up? I have a looper/switcher if that complicates things?

The above is a very basic principle, If you let me know your current signal chain, I'll do something more specific for you.

Perfect.

So, your 1-amp setup is the "wet" amp.

If you want to take a second amp and go wet/dry, you just tap off before the reverb/delay.

Simples!
