There's definitely some weird testosterone-driven issues going on when men take issue with female guitarists. No one really seems to have an issue with women playing brilliant folk or classical guitar, but as soon as she picks up an electric guitar and dares to play rock then all the judgements come pouring out. I guess some people still don't like the idea of women being loud and brash and would rather they stayed all meek and hidden away.

Bands like Heart, The Bangles, The pretenders and many more feature popular female guitarists.
When I was a lad in the early 70s my local heros on guitar were the older teenage girls in the church groups. I learned and progressed a lot with that inspiration.
Prince toured with female band members because they were better and more reliable for his exacting standards.
Micheal Jackson had his pick of the best of the best and took Jennifer Batten as his touring guitarist because she could do all the styles of the hit singles over the decades.

Theres no shortage of bellends in music shops, just remeber you probably earn thier daily wages in a couple of hours.

I find there is more female Bassists than Guitarists, which is strange as on average Women are smaller.
