But it sounds shit!, no really shit. Watch the video JM made to promo it. If they knocked the 5 off the end of the price I still wouldn't be interested.

I expected £4k and a great amp. (No JM fan here BTW) but that is pricey, far too pricey for me to care what it sounds like.

In all honesty what gives this amp its price point? The JM association - he changes amps monthly, The PRS name - I wouldn't have thought they have made enough good amps to jump into that price point.

I didnt think it sounded bad from the NAMM clips but at £6500? It's madness.

its a steal, in comparison to the £10K super eagle JM signature PRS...

I've never listened to more than maybe half a song at a time. I'm also not rich. I think this amp is aimed at rich fans. I.e. Not me.

Crazy price but they must think they will get that. You can see the logic though. Maybe they'll sell 100 of them, JM probably gets a clear £1k off each one - boom £100k in the bank - you need to have a lot of streams of your 4-song ep to make the same money these days. No wonder he spent the day his new music was launched at NAMM. Years ago he would have been Tower Records on launch day.
Times change and the art of monetising changes too.

Thats my cynical 2 pennies worth anyhow.

stupidly expensive, £4k max or else they will only sell a few
If I was a rich star and had genuinely put time and effort into it, I'd want it to sell in large numbers, like the 5150

The OD tones on this amp sound very naff to me, I  have several pedals that do a better job, what's the point when you 're playing a clean blackface and can use any pedal into the front?

From the video, the clean tones on this £7k amp are no better (in fact not as good I think) as my Ceriatone Blues master 50 HRM, which is  their JM-style blackface dumble clone.  I nearly bought a Two rock afterwards, but they sounded no better (although  it was good that the studio pro could get the sound with cheaper speakers than the  Celestion golds that the BM50 needs)

I'm poor so I can't think that £6500 for an amp is any sort of value.

Only interesting to what I've heard referred to in the States as the "doctors and lawyers" set, and no interest in any way to the rest of humanity.

    Suggest we move on :)

Do you think on a forum for dentists there is a PRS discussion section?

The only dentist I know who plays guitar has just bought a PRS.

How much was the Two Rock John Mayer sig when it came out?  Don't remember it being this price.

  • I'm a bit sick of the JM and PRS bashing on here to be honest with you.

there's no way it will be a high number production amp at that price, as a limited run of a hundred or so it will do ok, John Mayer is huge and there are plenty of well heeled players in the PRS customer base that won't bat an eye at this price

I thought it sounded great and I love his playing when he let's rip, I'm not mad on his recent albums but then he's probably not a big fan of me either.
Both he and Paul always come across as passionate and knowledgable. I suspect if you can afford it this is a great amp.
I agree with @bingefeller about the bashing. I don't see the problem.
As a halo product this will s3ll a lot of PRS SE and Son zero amps.

Agree with you on that.  I wish I was as talented as John Mayer, had his good looks, his wallet and had his list of ex and current girlfriends.  Stop This Train is even becoming a modern jazz standard.
