People will disagree but I reckon it is the best dirt pedal ever made.
I have a second one incoming.

It's great. I may be selling one soon. I realise that these two statements seem contradictory, but it's sitting getting little use on a home board that is mainly used for acoustic.

Needs to be played at rehearsal volume at minimum to really be appreciated, though.

In the realm of comparison it could appear vastly overrated, the KOT.

Imho, it lacks a colour or sound of its own, and is pretty 'meh' hence when you first encounter it... and that, ironically, is its strength.

It is an incredibly neutral, dare I say it 'transparent' pedal, that adds to your amp tone (hence why it sounds better with amp volume). So, today at home volumes, I wanted to add just a little bit more to my great basic Redplate amp tone. Cue the KOT. I can gemtly add a bit more vol, then gain then treble - keeping the basic sound of my amp.

I actually think that surprisingly few pedals can actually do this.

I'm going to order another one over the weekend.
I notice they now offer black, blue and white ones as well as the standard purple.    Tempted to get a black one this time, a shame they didn't offer the gold one again though.

I've had the v2 for 10 years. I tend to use it at home or in smaller bands. I have used it in bands with other guitarists, keyboard operators and brass imho it can get lost in the mix. My current board has the v2 and a klon on it. This gives me a range of I'd and boosts sounds.

The kot is very good and very versatile but not a magic cure all.

I've had a V4 for some years, I would have to agree that it is my favourite overdrive pedal, out of many I've tried. It has a very nice compression to it's sound that is not simple to put into words. Really good sounding and versatile pedal.

I agree with the idea that it makes the amp sound even more like itself- if that makes sense.
In that way it is the opposite of something like a Zendrive, which imparts a very particular tone to whatever amp it touches.
I have both on my board at the moment.

  • I thought the only good thing about it was the fact I could sell it for more than I paid for it. Other than that it's a deeply ordinary overdrive pedal.

@john_p couldn't see any images on the analogman website. How did you find out?

  • I'm confused by some of the comments.

Apparently it's great at being a transparent boost.  Isn't that what a boost pedal does?  That's what I use a GE-7 for, with obviously plenty of adjustable parameters available.

I thought the KOT was a dirt pedal.

It is a dirt pedal- it also works as a dirty boost but the key thing is it doesn't impart much of a tonal change.
If you have a great sounding amp then the KOT will make it sound a bit gnarlier but it won't do the 'Marshall in a box thing' into a Fender amp, for instance.

The option only comes up in the order page.
It doesn't say if it's a limited edition or if that's now a standard option.  I'm torn between black and white.

Is your KOT the 2input or the 4 input so you can separate the two sides with a looper @kjdowd ?
