This is a 001Mh and according to my serial number search on the Collings website it is a 2010 guitar (serial number is: 17893) which I bought from a guy who had bought it new as an 'investment'?!!!  It had literally never been played.  As a result the guitar is still in amazing condition and has never even ventured out of the house with me. It is all mahogany construction and they have used pretty amazing woods.  This is my second Collings, my first was a 0002H, and both guitars have been faultless and just beautifully made.  It has its original case which is 'as new'.  It has Waverly tuners which work impeccably.  This model is based on a 1930s Martin I believe.

The only issue was that the first owner obviously didn't humidify the guitar and as a result the lacquer around some fret ends on the bass side lifted a little and one or two on the treble side.  I must stress that the frets are perfect.  I spoke to Collings on the phone several times and they were amazingly helpful.  They explained that this isn't an uncommon problem, particularly on new guitars, igf they are not humidified.  They kindly offered for me to send it to Charlie Chandler who would simply remove the very small areas of lifted lacquer and fill with fresh lacquer.  As they are not strictl speaking an acoustic specialist I decided to have my friend and luthier Richard Bartram do the work instead.  He did a great job.  The neck is now completely smooth and looks perfect unless you hold the guitar up to the light and move it around and even then its hard to see.  Unless the work was pointed out you would never notice it.

The guitar sounds absolutely beautiful, a deep resonant and warm sound but far from lacking in treble response as I assumed it would be before I played it.  I had never even played an all mahogany acoustic before this one and was frankly blown away when I did try it......and that's why I bought it!

I an ideal world I would like to sell the guitar but I might consider a p/ex or a swap for a solid body or possibly a bass.  My preference would be for a 000/00 sized body but that's not set in stone.   Ideally not a slotted headstock.

If I sell the guitar as a straight sale I would like what I paid for it (and this doesn't include Richard's work!) which is £1875.  I think this is a pretty good price for a Collings.

I am in Ely in Cambridgeshire, just north of Cambridge, and would be very happy for anyone to come and try the guitar.

Any questions please ask!!!

I've got a fairly open mind to be honest.  I would consider a Fender bass or maybe an AVRI or custom shop tele/strat/jag or maybe even a LP.  Also consider a vintage fender amp too.

Thank you @Castro and @Anchorboy! ; Yes, it's a gem and the mahogany just looks so nice, much better than the spruce top version of this model I reckon.  It's a really perfect size too.  I had a Collings 0002H many years ago and loved it but I MUCH prefer this body size.

Hi. What's the nut width and string spacing at the saddle? Thanks

    Hi @fishfingers

I was just about to start measuring the neck/bridge and I thought it might be better to actually provide Collings spec sheet for the guitar.  It says 'spruce top' as they do an allmahogany version and a spruce top version.

I've double checked the nut width and it is 1 3/16" (or 46.3mm) so the spec below is correct for my guitar.

    Any more questions please ask........

Looks terrific. Sadly none of my solid bodies come near this value.

Really happy to consider 50s/60s Fender amps or even a 14 fret acoustic as I'm just not playing the Collings anywhere near enough.
