If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Here's a few of my favourites:

    Futureheads - Hounds of Love

Fleetwood Mac - Need Your Love So Bad

    Mark Lanegan - Red Balloon

Florence and the Machine - You Got the Love

Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night

    Manic Street Preachers - Donkeys

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Does Talking Heads' "Crosseyed and Painless" covered by Phish* count? For those who appreciate Adrian Belew, I include the TH version with him on guitar from 1980.

    * One of the greatest bands never to bother touring Europe/UK.

Frank Zappa also did some very tasty cover versions of two classics, and pulls them off very very well, including these two (although there are plenty of other performances of these on yootoob):

My favourite cover varies all the time, but my current one is Imelda May's rockabilly version of "Tainted Love".

nice...not a million miles away from (I think) the original...
