Origin cali 76 CD... lite

TeetonetalTeetonetal Frets: 7802
I love my Cali, but the live board doesn't have an 18v option - plus the size is a little big and its a bit more expensive than I want to put on my giging board.

So, what cheaper pedals would get me in the ball park? Similar style compression - 9-12V, small footprint( say boss) and a mix/blend knob oh and no 3dpt if possible?

  • Good shout. Is it any good? Not gelled with the wampler pedals I've tried till now, but that ticks a lot of boxes.

Suhr Koji. Sold mine last week after getting a SlideRig.

Koji is a great cheaper substitute for a Cali (I had one of the first Calis). There's another on sale in the classifieds IIRC

On the Wampler, I know what you mean - I've owned a lot of them, and not kept too many.

I've owned the SP compressor and really would not recommend that, and the views I've heard about the Ego are pretty favourable, and the limitations seem sensible.

    Not played one tho

+1 for Fairfield Accountant. Love mine; good at compression, good as an 'effect' too.

  • For what you say you want the Koji ticks all the right boxes. Great comp. I slightly prefer the Diamond comp, but that's a bit different, has no blend, and is 3dpt.

Barber Tone Press Compact is very nice, ideal if you like a bright, spanky Tele sound.

  • ...and yet another vote (from me) for the Fairfield. Brilliant, tiny footprint.

No blend and 3dpt -  already got one great pedal but not what I need.

  • The guy is a bassist but this website has a huge amount of compressor reviews.

@Teetonetal  Eh? It will run at 9v, and it is no bigger than any other compact pedal.

I've got a large-box transformer model - *that's* a big pedal (and needs 18v for the Tx to kick in)
    Red ones are better.

  • @TimmyO i prefer it at 18v but yes 9 is an option.

Its a bit longer and taller than I'd like it doesn't fit nicely on my board, besides I want to keep it in my studio setup.

Of course a could by another but ideally would get something cheaper. I only use it 2 or 3 times in a set :)

I was looking around for something for Mini board recently - not tried one myself yet but the new mini Philosophers Tone caught my eye

if  you try a multi-band compressor in protools or some DAW,  you should be pleased
I'm not sure if any pedals can match  the plugins
