Klon clone without buffer

Can anyone point me in tbe direction of a good quality, reliable klon clone which doesn't have the klon buffer - ie that does not affect the signal at all when in bypass?

  • Thanks for the suggestion but I was more interested in a more authentic klone.

Boo Instruments does one. And I think 4114Effects on this forum too.

Why get a Klone? KTR has the buffer switchable

  • Bit out of my price range and too big for my pedal board i'm afraid.

Not sure how close a Soul Food really is, but I'm pretty sure it has a dip switch on the inside for that.

  • How reliable are EHX pedals nowadays? I had a Glove on which the switchbroke pretty much as soon as I got it.

And he also says "almost always worse", when it's off. Part of the charm of the sound, for me.

Mine has been fine. Had an issue where the nut on the switch came undone, so I bough a star washer and that fixed the problem. I run mine with the buffer on (accessible via a dip switch inside) - pedal now 4 years old and stepped on many times a week.

    But.

All my other EHX pedals have broken very quickly.

  • Not strictly a Klon klone but could a Thorpyfx Peacekeeper get you there?

The buffer reacts badly with one of my other pedals, hence why i'd like a version on which I can either switch it out or that doesn't have a buffer in the first place.

I've had mine for about a year now and it's had no issues, then again I've not really been gigging with it much...
