Some pics from the London Classic Car Show

Went yesterday with my dad. He had to go early but I spent another few hours wandering around. Some truly staggering cars there - one of the best days out I've had in a long time.

Here are some choice photos out of the 200 or so I took.

Was very happy to see a couple of mid-late-90s racing cars that I remember from my early childhood, when I would hijack my dad's computer to play videogames. From Colin McRae Rally - the man's very own Impreza, in that iconic colour scheme:

This old Mazda Cosmo, which is a car I have always loved - finally saw one in the flesh. Gorgeous thing.

Ferrari 275 GTS anyone? One of the most beautiful Ferraris ever made, surely.

A Gulf-livery GT40... the motorsport Holy Grail, surely? To quote Jeremy Clarkson, "even standing near that gives me The Fizz."

There was modern stuff there too - here's an Aston Martin Vulcan, which is a seriously imposing thing seen close up.

The car I really struggled to tear myself away from was this Paul Stephens Porsche - utterly exquisite thing. Sells for £175k - my dad pledged to buy one if he wins the lottery.

From the sublime to the ridiculous - a Koenig-modded BMW 6-series which is undoubtedly the ugliest thing I have ever clapped eyes on:

The Dino is just too pretty.

Any sign of the bubble getting ready to burst? Classic prices have really gone crazy in recent years.

An Alfa Romeo 8C, possibly the most beautiful of the modern cars at the show. Glorious.

Thank you for posting this. That Porsche 956 is my favourite.

The 90's rally and touring cars are very cool. Shame there wasn't an Alfa 156 - had a massive poster of Tarquini getting one all squiggly on two wheels on my wall as a kid

It was a bit untidy but yup that was the price -I replaced it with a 308GTS which was also untidy on the paintwork and that had done 31,000 miles .....cost £9,400 .....my colleague bought a De Tomaso Pantera GTS the same week for £8,800
  The supercar market was quite unexplored in those days .....you never saw a Ferrari and even a Porsche in London was only seen every couple of days at most .Now every 10th car is a Porsche of some kind.
 My friend's father sold his Aston DB6 in 1983 for £6,600 and it was a beauty.

Sure it wasn't a 155? 

Great pics Bucket. I'll have to get my backside there next time. And the 911 is my favourite out of the lot.

I must say you are a man of impeccable taste, two of my most favourite cars the Dino and the 308, what a shame you couldn't have held on to them.

There must be a lot of people kicking themselves right now! Still, hindsight being a wonderful thing and all that.

Some beautiful cars there, @Bucket ;- I think the Alfa GTA and the Ferrari 275 are the best of the bunch.

Love the A4 touring car, that era of touring cars was just awesome.  A short time ago had the good fortune to attend a driving-experience day up in Middlesbrough and to my surprise and delight one of the instructors was a Mr John Bintcliffe, former Audi factory BTCC driver who used to drive the A4 back in the nineties.  Fan-boy mode all day!
