legal assistance with car insurance?

Do you lot bother with legal assistance when sorting car insurance? I often skip it to keep the costs down, I was wondering what most people do?

Just debating this too, new car arriving on 1st and will probably tick the box. Never needed it, BUT...

Pointless, as the Insurance co in-house council will act for you in any event!

Didn't have it - ended up in a no fault accident last year. The in house guys wanted £60 to claim back my £250 excess from the other party.

I phoned the party at fault's insurance company, two minute conversation, another couple of minutes writing an email and the policy excess was paid directly to me.
