Alright. I've whinged on about this long enough. I promise I'll shut up and crawl back under my 4 string rock.

No doubt @ICBM @Sporky @Gassage @mikeyrob73 and countless others will give me a slap for this, but, well.. slap away.

In my defence, I tried a lot of basses. 4 Jazz's. Even a few Gibsons. (They make basses??!)

And then this happened. It's predictable. It's probably not the best example out there. It's mine. I knew it was mine the minute I picked it up. We've all been there. We've all got sucked up in the moment and said "It's the best thing ever, it's a keeper, and I'll never sell it" - only to flog it in 3-6 months.

Time will tell.

I can now proudly stand up and say that I am a P bass player. Feel free to throw vegetables, rocks, or whatever you like. I'm happy with it. Very happy with it. And I have found my niche. I've got two of them. I may even get more. I don't care anymore. I just like them. Really like them. Goddamit Leo, you knew how to make basses. You got it right in 1952.

I'll take some daylight photos tomorrow but in the meantime:

Rant over. Thanks for listening ;)

Oh, and in terms of sound...

    I tried it through a '66 Ampeg B15.

It sounded like WW3 & Armageddon all at the same time. I thought I was having a stroke or a heart attack when I plucked the E for the first time.

    Amazing.

    I too love a Precision.

Although my Squier CV 60s P is not quite...that!

    Congratulations.
    Red ones are better.

This is complete, total self indulgence on a scale that I should be ashamed of.

    I've played a CV 60's P.

It was very good - really very good. It gets you at least 80% of the way there. Maybe even more. I'd say there's no point in getting a Mex, and possibly not even an American P if you have a Squier CV - they are that good.

    @mikeyrob73 ;

I shall sit at home, caressing my P, thinking of what I threw away to get it.

If it helps, I have money left over from the recent sales, as I went under budget with this one, and I ABSOLUTELY DO see a Thunderbird in my life. I promise.

Embrace the Bass.. you know you need us to give you low down support whilst you are widdling away.

Scrap the glam rock thing. Get your PRS down here and let's do a mad surf band instead.

Mikey Mike and the Baby Dean Surfer Dudes.

I like to finger over the pickup.

That sounds rude. It's true tho. I think you get the best tone from a P right over the pup. So, it's coming off.

And the Bridge cover has the original foam mute in it, so that has to come off too..

You need to take a few more photos (so you can publish a calendar.)

...But just imagine how deep & woody it would sound if you pulled & filled the frets :)
