Wasnt going to be a relic at first but my Imperfect, impatient prep work made it an obvious choice.

Most important is that it sounds really good although the pickup Im usuing has neodynium magnet which to my ears gives a more modern sound when overdrivin and doesnt quite have the bite of my 50s classic Tele's pickups.

I have a Cats Whisker pickup wound to vintage spec that i'm going to try instead, The Eldred cocked wah mod is great, quite throaty with overdrive and gets me in a Zappa-ish ballpark soundwise (even if my playing doesnt!)

Overall very happy for a first time build, there is some fret buzz even though the action isnt super low, have tweaked the neck but it may benefit from a pro fret level to get it as nice as my other Tele. I got a new mint green guard for it, not sure if Im going to relic that though, it looks a bit daft and shiny on a relic so will look into methods.

Anyhoo here it is,

Ive now changed the pickup to the cats whisker rewind, originally a Tokai. have to say a big improvement to my ears. Much more zing and bite.

Cheers! was having a blast on it earlier today, its very light and resonant.

I used one of those dishwashing pads, hi tech stuff this! it came out ok with pretty minimal swirling, then dulled it off with some briwax which should help it to pick up dirt too. Not pro standard by any means but I'm happy with it. Im going to have a go at the back of the neck as it is untouched yet.

    Looks great!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

but reckon the scratch plate needs matting down and ageing a bit to help the soft relic look but very nice
