Palmer Boards & Strymon Zuma - Opinions?

NomadNomad Frets: 549

Considering getting a Palmer pedalboard (the 80cm one), and it looks like a Strymon Zuma is the only PSU that gives me the voltage and current specs I need (TC Nova pedals and Zoom G3X are current guzzlers, with the TCs being 12V as well)..

Any opinions on either of these before I splurge the cash?

I've got a Palmer board (the 40, I think), and it's spot-on. I particularly like the power supply mounting and the movable slats, and even the angle of the board seems better than PT boards.

They seem really great. It'll give more Pedaltrain a run for their money :)

I've just bought a Palmer for my AX8 - it's the 60l and I'm chuffed to bits with it. I've got a couple of pedaltrains too and the Palmer addresses a few of the shortcomings of the Pedaltrain - the adjustable height and crossbars are terrific and they cost way less than Pedaltrain without any difference in quality. Great product.

I've got various Palmer boards and I can't say  enough good things about them.

  • These look really good. The lip on the board base of my Diago is proving to be getting in the way and was going to get a PT but these look really good.

Where is best to buy the Palmer boards?

  • Gear4Music has the 60cm board for £62.95, by the looks of it.

Wow that's really good price. I'm of moving on my pedal train 2 now in favour of the adjustable struts and raking of these Palmer's. No drilling with for the power supply

Thomann's Space Ship boards appear to be re-badged Palmers, and slightly cheaper, they also have Palmer ones.

G4M is where I got the 80cm one from, for just under 80 quid. Similar size Pedaltrain is £145 (both with soft case).

Gear4music for me too. The 60l has free delivery and is about £72. It's a similar size to the Novo 24. The standard 60 is the Pedaltrain 2 equivalent.
Quality is great and they're pre-velcroed!

Pre-velcroed - bad idea. Which part of the velcro is on the board?

  • Its the loop, not the hook. The soft side!

How are the bags? I'm considering shifting my Pedaltrain 1 and it's massive hardcase for something easier to store. I'm not exactly a touring musician so a pedaltrain hardcase is a little OTT for me.

However, in an ideal world I'd have a Mono bag! So are the Palmer ones any good?

Ach, I have the soft side on my pedals, as is correct :) and i've been considered dual lock to get around the wobbly-mini-pedals syndrome. Looking at the Palmers the fact that the edges aren't usable / velcro'd  is a bit of a pain too, though understandable given the slats move.
