I've got a G70 - I'm happy with it so far. Not done many gigs yet though...

Hows the tuner function @robinbowes doesn't seem that easy to see?

It's been easy enough to see so far. I'll let you know after my gig on Sunday!

I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries because they hold the charge and don't drain even if you don't use them for a while. I bought a set of 4 AA with a charger, fully charge all of them, put 2 in the G30 and keep 2 spare in the case.

Can't complain about the battery life of my Shure GLXD16. 3-4 3 hour rehearsals and I might have to charge it but has never run down to nothing. I have a spare battery anyway so have absolute confidence of never running out of power during a gig. Awesome wireless systems albeit expensive but great things usually are ;)

    Smooth Hound for me.

I've just received a custom made Heistercamp Guitar Strap, modded to hold a Smooth Hound - had a chat with them at the Birmingham Guitar Show, and lent them my transmitter, so that the Strap could be modded accurately. It arrived yesterday, and they've done an excellent job for me.

Mine will flip open easily on its own at any time it feels like doing it. It happened during a gig once. Ever since that day I have a cable tie around it and just slide it up out of the way to open the battery door...and slide it back down to secure it closed. So easily fix for a simple but annoying flaw. In fact I'm still on the very same cable tie - its going strong around 3yrs on! Other than that I can not fault the G30 at all.

@Voxman - well, the battery cover is poorly designed but the 100% fix is not a problem.
Basically, find something to keep it closed.  Some use Velcro, or cable ties.
I favour rubber bands cos the postman leaves them for me.

I did a super short vid on YouTube for the benefit of any Americans who didn't know how to wrap an elastic band around something, just YT "Line 6 G30 battery solution", and well, yeah, it's an elastic band.  But it works.

I'm not exactly enthralled at the idea of spending £170 on something that has been so poorly designed that you have to hold it together with an elastic band or velcro!

I look at it like this:
Without doubt the battery compartment was designed by some kid on a YTS scheme, and some fecking moron at Line 6 approved it cos it saved 2p a unit
    however....
it's only a few dumb rubber bands to totally solve the only problem with the G30

Solve the battery door and you're totally sorted.  The rest of the unit is 100% reliable.

It's not the best design but I've never had a problem with the battery door on my G30.

    Another Smooth Hound user here.

Faultless performance and good battery life

I also went the velcro option to hold it in place but would probably stick it on my belt if I had a short guitar lead.

Nice to support a British business too
