  • Rabea is possibly my favourite you tube deno guy. I think mainly because his playing is interesting. He is laid back and funny. And I don't feel I am being sold to.

Strymon drives don't excite me much though. They look dull as well. Somehow Strymon remind me of the 80s for design

Only watched the first minute but is the punchline that a whale crashes into the studio at the end?

I'm only jealous. Never mastered guitarface.

This first 30 seconds I thought he was sat on the crapper trying to dispense a spikey poo!

There are times when it looks more like he's on the crapper trying to reinsert a spiky poo.

Thoughts on this v Chase Bliss Brothers? I think the Brothers clinches it for me with the fuzzy insanity that comes from parallel mixing THOSE drives.

Very versatile, but it sounds very sterile and plastic, even in the demos.

(and you all know how much I like Strymon)

I wouldn't mind, but it still sounds like a really bad solid state amp. What's he recording with, a Nokia 3310?

The chase brothers looks awesome but... too many options for me, and  controls/switches too close together.  Would have to use the midi switch which then seems to negate the point of having a smaller footprint?

Very interested in the sunset tho.

`Sunset utilizes an all-analog JFET gain stage coupled with custom-voiced, precision-crafted DSP algorithms to capture the nuances and character of each circuit type.`

So it`s £300 for a digital drive pedal?

Their marketing really is very, very good. They are managing to make digital pedals appeal to a very traditional market place.

(that is absolutely no comment either way on analog versus digital sound!)

I learnt from the best: Johnny DeMarco who does Roland demos. You can really feel his pain.
    Or constipation.

Strange. It was always my audiences who were pulling agonised faces.

I got mine yesterday.  I like it.

Is it exceptional compared to other dual drive pedals - not sure?   Its very flexible and can get a wide range of sounds and I think it will cover pretty much every sound from light break up to heavy(ish) rock.
Not hooked up an expression pedal yet, but will do as I'd like the idea of being to adjust volume/drive via expression.

Got a couple of gigs coming up so will give it some live time to see how it lasts.

You have to bare in mind it's virtually one third the cost of a Helix ......if you're going to go digital you may as well get a digital pedal that will do a thousand other things and open a thousand possibilities

I bought a versatile drive pedal. Don't give a flying hoot about whether it's valve, solid state or made from beans as long as it sounds good.

Just been down the fractal fx8 route and frankly found it not as good as pedals personally,  despite loads of people swearing the fractal drives were as good.

  • When oh when oh when will Strymon release a multi-FX. I know, I know, it's not their business model, but still it would be immense.
