I really want a Gibson Byrdland, but being as they're now around £7.5k, I wondered if anyone could point me at a cheaper (much!) thinline hollow body (no centre block) that would do the same thing? It needs to be a full hollow body, trapeze tailpiece affair.
A lot of the cheaper jazz guitars I've seen have thicker 3.5" bodies, whereas the Byrdland is the standard 2-5/8", same as a 335. It doesn't matter if the pickups need swapping or the bridge isn't right, I can sort that.
I've found these http://www.guitarfetish.com/XV-950-Hollowbody-GFS-Retrotrons-Flamed-Maple-Vintage-Sunburst_p_2341.html in the US, but the shipping is stupid.
Any ideas?

ASF75 perhaps, I had the version with the trem on it & it was a very good guitar. (I'm not sure if they do it without the bigsby, but you could swap that for a trap tail easily enough).

Other names that have decent repute would include Peerless at the lower cost good value end.
They look nice, but they only have a verithin style guitar, or a 3" body, nothing in between.
That looks my best hope. The AF75 is the same thing with no bigsby. EDIT: no it isn't, it has a 3" body. Will have to swap tailpiece as you said.
Nothing with buckers although the H525 looks nice with P90s. Would have to wait for a used one.
Yes, too expensive for me.
Thanks for the input :

Try to stick to artcores with a number bigger than 100: they are semi-pro level (£800-£900 new)
...it's basically a 330/Casino-type. Full hollow body (2 and 5/8ths deep), trapeze tailpiece, P90s. Think they've been discontinued, as it looks like they're out of stock just about everywhere.
