There are certainly quite a lot of 'relics' that look like they have an infestation.

Woodworm need moisture to survive which is why they occur in damp timbers. Old guitars are likely to be very dry and also, the wood thickness of an acoustic would probably be too thin. A solid bodied electric would provide a better home for them and I have definitely heard of pianos with woodworm.

Gibson is proud to present our new line of Eco-Friendly Weight Relieved Les Paul guitars.

Each woodworm has been specially trained to burrow into the mahogany of the guitar and relieve the weight greatly.  The guitars come shipped with this special feature, and will continue to weight relieve your guitar until you need to buy another one.

We need to pay the debt off somehow...

My lightweight Tele from Jaden has a bit of woodworm - being made of black limba, though, it adds to the charm.

It's worth saying that I knew about it before he made it, though :)

did panic fora time when I moved in with a girlfriend as I used to practise in a shed outside that had woodworm. Usually if you see the holes but no dust, it means they have already gone. Or something.

Fifteen years later and there's still no sign of wood-boring insects having been near my gear (unless they were in the Laney I sold soon after).

Yeah, you often see little bug holes in limba, but it usually happens when the tree is alive.  Often you find one at the end of an orange streak

    Yup they sure do.

One of my vintage AC30s had serious woodworm and damp rot damage - and the cab was binned, along with the rusted and water damaged blue speakers. The chassis was perfect though.

Isn't that because part of it used to be an antique fireplace?
