Fake Fender Custom Shop Necks....

I mentioned these very clever fakes a while back in another thread, they come from the U.S and as you can see look pretty real. The red stamp is a genuine Fender one and from the 90's, I saw it sell on ebay.com about 15 years ago and ever since these necks keep appearing. I think the seller has no idea and having done the whole contact thing so many times I am bored with it now so I won't be telling him. He has a 2008 body too which is for sale with coa and that looks legit although his Custom shop spec sheet is dated 2013.
Anyway here's the neck, complete with its one very telling error. If you spot it please don't post it because fakers watch these forums for info. I made that mistake previously and they corrected it on some of the later ones. Oh and before someone questions my info, the error was originally confirmed to me by Mike Eldred when he was in charge of the shop.

Look and take heed...dealers too as you wouldn't be the first to be caught out with one of these...

Would you mind PM'ing me what the telling error is? It looks pretty legit to me so I wouldn't know what to look for!

Yeah brilliant...
However, by not passing on such information it doesn't actually help anyone else to make informed buying choices when looking at such adverts, does it?

I'm none the wiser - apart from the flame looks a bit gash to me (I'm not a big fan of that sort of thing).

Okay going to make it easier and if you can't see the differencE then I wouldn't suggest buying used...

That's why I have never bought a used Custom Shop without see a neck pocket pic....and I've bought quite a few!

Ahh, and here's the original faker. This is the guy that learnt about the error on the original fake RELIC stamp and corrected it. These are a fake of Masterbuilder Jason Davis' necks and use his decal. The seller when contacted has a Jason Davis email address and claims to be him. He made the mistake of date stamping one neck  and body with dates after Jason had left Fender and was pretty unhappy when I pointed that one out. Funny. Anyway, give this a wide birth and any others that are pictured on this cyan cloth! The seller has multiple accounts.

Erm, the Relic Fenders I have owned have had no dodgy spacing on the RELIC stamp, or have they worn it out also the fake rosewood fretboard necks seem to have a cutaway in the fretboard which on mine certainly wasn't there

Thanks boss  If you look back through Mr Vintage-builts ebay history you can see just how many he's duped at $699 a go from this one account. Nice little earner, and before anyone thinks to challenge him, don't bother.....been there done that.He's a pro at the game, it was a pointless exercise. My only goal is to make sure none of the guys on here get conned.

Could someone get Fender themselves interested in it?   If they came after him then presumably Ebay would shut his account pronto. @MattFGBI

Fender knew about it some time back, well Mike Eldred did when he was in charge at the Custom Shop. Funny thing is he rarely does Jason Davis bodies, mainly necks. As I tried to point out to one unlucky buyer who was still convinced it was legit.....why would anyone part out a neck of a $3500 guitar for $699? How how would one guy find so many of Jasons guitars when they are incredibly rare! At one stage people were claiming that the seller was Jason Davis himself who was selling these necks after leaving Fender, alas that was not true.

Oh, he's back doing the fake Jason Davis necks again, this time a bit of variation with maple and a compound radius. Nice to see he's keeping it fresh. Anyone want to waste $765?

Seen my first one of these today, on a Candy Orange body. It could even have been that very neck, it looks identical.
