House insurance . . . . WTF moment . . . .

We live in the valleys nice small bungalow. Time to renew house insurance so off I go looking for deals. We have a river near by, don't care wipe out the flood aspect if you like never had a flood here (touch wood) ion living memory of the 80+ yr old neighbours. We have a hill behind us which due to the nature of the ground has small slippages. When we first got the mortgage the survey said some signs of land slippage but of no concern.

We needed to talk to car insurance people at the same time so they offer us House insurance. Good timing - go ahead. Blah blah - quote for the year £5,000 !! Our renewal was only going to be £400 mark! They could actually offer us the insurance and if we don't claim for 25 years they could give us the house for free and still make money!
