If they combined the two and had the shape and pickups from the lower one with a trem and no scratchplate then I think there would be a PRS I wanted to own (other than the satin charcoal singlecut trem).

  • I've never really been turned on by PRS but these look really pretty.

Yeah, a Vela with Trem is a PRS I would buy.

I like the lack of 'tosser top' and gaudy colours, much more workman like

  • The Vela looks nice, but the CE not so much (but then, they never did).

I love that CE - especially the mismatch of timbers.

The Vela is definitely getting there, but why the silly bird inlays on an otherwise rustic and utilitarian guitar?

That semi-hollow Vela is a thing of beauty.

    Want.
Not much of the gear, even less idea.

I was wondering that. I'd prefer mother-of-toilet-seat dots. They look like mock-clay birds too which is odd.

@Sporky... I think you could be onto something there. For the past 58 years, everyone's missed the point. Those weren't clay dot markers in early Fender rosewood fretboards... they were clay pigeons. Technically, Fender had the first bird inlays.

I quite fancy the CE. The lack of US hardware puts me off though for the money.

I think I'd like a Vela with a Trem or a Chris Robertson with a Floyd on.

  • Somebody help me. Since finding out about these over the weekend, I can't stop thinking about them. I have serious GAS for that vela, and I've never wanted a PRS before! I love the idea of where the wood was sourced and how it looks. I'm thinking about finance options even...I wish it would just stop.

I can't be alone in thinking that this is utterly fugly, surely?

The body looks like two separate guitars mashed together. Awful, awful, awful.

  • lol...I can definitely see something like that particular one not being everyone's cup of tea. But looking through the (very few) images I've seen it all depends which one you get, some seem colour/pattern matched, others not. That has me a bit worried though. I spoke with a shop today and you don't know what you are getting, they are not letting you choose, and its not like you have pics of what they will have in stock to choose from. Wish they did :(

Nope it looks like it's made of real timber - natural wood, not the "perfection" that the soppy bollocks guitarists demand normally for a PRS. And not vile quilted maple with some over shiny burst finish.
The only thing wrong with it is the birds - over fussy for a stripped back instrument.

The mismatch of timbers is horrible!
