NCD (Zilla content)

Last week I took delivery of my first ever cab - a vertical 2x12 from Zilla.

Clearly it needs something perched on top ...

... and some friends to play with ...

It's early days (one rehearsal, no gigs yet) - but so far I'm really pleased. It sounds warm, full and present - cutting through the band mix beautifully. The build quality is great, and IMO it looks pretty damn fine. And the service from Paul was absolutely top notch from start to finish - highly recommended.

Now I'm really looking forward to getting it on the stage!

Ooooh, nice, Zilla are great cabs and easy to deal with Paul. Love the colour scheme...are you a Man City fan by chance ;)

What speakers you got in there? Paul is a fan of Creambacks if I'm not mistaken.

  • Cheers @Bellycaster.

Speakers are a pair from WGS: ET-65 at the top, Reaper HP at the bottom.  I already had them, and sent them down to Paul who installed them once the cab was built.

As for the colour - I wanted something a bit different, and the pastel shades caught my eye.  If I hadn't gone for Baby Blue, I would have copied @DanR and taken the Sea Foam Green.

    @djspecialist ;

I did a lot of listening to WGS Demos when I was choosing the speaker for mine, but ended up being scaredy cat and going with the old celestion option, nice speakers though WGS, is the Reaper similar to the G12 H30?

According to WGS, yes.  (Google for "WGS tone chart" which tells you what each of their models resembles ... or at least it did, they seem to have done a facelift of their website and I can't find it now.)

That's handy, cheers. Tis a delightful looking rig. I had the open/closed back option, I've had it open since I bought it, I keep meaning to try it closed as well if I can ever be arsed to screw the panel back on :)

Looks very good, the blue was my second choice when I ordered my last one.

Which grill cloth did you end up with?

  • Cheers @DanR - actually I think it was you who suggested that blue to me.

    The grill cloth is Bluesbreaker.

Great looking cab :) Would not have considered that colour, I've learned something :)

From the wear on the bridge and tailpiece I'm guessing that's an original old SG2000?   Fuck me the heaviest guitars I've ever come across, impossible (for me) to play even sitting down, they're a hernia on a strap :)
