I have a Barbour one that is generally stuffed with Lego, wet wipes, and other toddler stuff.  It used to be full of weights, beer, and other manly stuff  honest!

IMO lego is far more manly than weights.

Rucksacks have no place outside of hiking, camping and highschool.

I have a BiIlingham camera bag and a Filson weekend bag a simple but expandable Delsey laptop bag (all shoulder bags) and a decent wheelie carry-on. I rarely get on a plane without at least one of those.

I only claim semi-german-ality thanks to being born on german soil and I have a backpack with my at all time or almost all times I guess

They are practical and they don't pull your back/neck out of alignment.

I carry a Crumpler backpack with me when I travel.
It is good enough for a change of clothes, iPad, some toiletries.
The only problem is it doesn't have any way of being able to be locked.

Laptop and stuff for work goes in a, wait for it,,,,laptop bag.

When I am traveling, I use a waxed cotton barbour messenger bag that has any stuff I need on the plane in it. Otherwise I use those underrated things called pockets.
