Well, bit of an odd one this! Hand-painted by a local artist, part of me thinks I should never sell it - and it plays and sounds great and I love its looks. But it hardly gets played (I struggle with single coils)) and I have no display room.

The back of the neck has been smoothed down, the fretboard lacquer removed (it was flaking) and SCN Noiseless pickups fitted. It has 100% new wiring, pots, switch, jack and S1 switching.

The major marks are from stupid youthful attempts to make it roadworn as I hated the stock black!

Looking for £500. Collect from Carlisle or Kirkbride, Cumbria.

If it is any help to you - Bank Holiday Sunday there is  a guitar show at Rheged - http://www.mojoguitarshows.co.uk/ - If not sold before then, try a walk round visit with it - might get some interest - just a thought - I'm normally at this show but on holiday so won't be there

  • @guitars4you Hoping to shift a few of my guitars before then and do just that. I'd like hard cash though, as you know how trade prices are...and I've five or six I might shift. Thanks!

When I saw "painted by a local artist", I thought it was going to be a bit naff, but actually it looks really good!

  • @prowla She's very talented. I think painting this was a bit beneath her :)

The rest of the band are all current or former art lecturers - although I prefer her work!

    Try doing something with it?

Everyone thought Steve Vai was (insert your favourite Vai insult here) at first and a fair few still do but he did something with a guitar that was painted in a unique style that most of the people who slag him off can't do.

Take your Strat and do something unique with it...........or don't and good luck with selling it.

    All the best.

  • I can't decide if I love it or think it's ridiculous, but I am a little bit tempted!

What's the crack with the fretboard? I've never played an unlaquered maple board, does it feel noticeably different under the fingers?

    I understand!

I can't remember but I can say I played it for a while yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It kind of feels like the frets are bigger, I suppose, as they now I suppose seem to sit higher.

  • Shame you did not have original pick ups I would have had that.

Ok no bother. What's the deal with the roller nut? Does it make it sound unusually bright? I tried a guitar with a brass nut once and wasn't a huge fan of it, but I'm open minded! What does the S1 switch do on your guitar? From what I can tell from Googling around, the didn't come with those initially back in the day. I'd generally be playing blues/blues rock/classic rock type stuff, would those pickups be good sort of all rounders for those sort of styles? (Sorry for all the questions!)
