    What an amazing day!

It was a slightly weird one for me as I was splitting time between being in the band on bass, playing guitar as an improver and watching others. Consequently I missed out on the other room.

No single shout outs cos somebody gets missed. So a big thank you to the organisers, house band, singers, the experienced guitar players (who were awesome), the improvers who had a go (sincere respect) the people who were helpful (encouragement lessons, gear lending, roadie skills and lifts-you were very kind) the photographers and apologies to anyone I didnt get to chat to.

    I think that's everyone.

    Lastly I want a Goldtop.

Was the Matchless the small amp on the RHS of the 'stage'- that was awesome sounding, I loved playing through that - can someone tell me what model it was?

Yes that was @slacker Matchless Lightning 15. Quite simply... gorgeous. It covered so many sonic bases and sounded perfect every time.

Thanks for letting us all use it, chap. A real (expensive for me) eye opener

  • Apologies I forget who it was who recommended a Trio Band Creator pedal, but I've bought one!

Fundamental problem that doesn't help though - need to do a lot more playing with others.

Been doing too much playing with myself.

    Ahem.
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

I cant really respond to that on a forum full of sarcastic people. My first band was a four piece and the best musician could play a couple of cowboy chords. All you need is one person with a bass or a drum kit and you've got a makings of a band.

Also get to as many jams as you can.

You are all most welcome. I've had it two years and whilst play it a lot at low level that's the first time it's been proper wound up. It was great to hear how all the player/guitar/pedal combinations sounded different. When I wasnt stressing about my playing it sounded sweet. I didnt even think that it wouldnt feedback, it just responded and was controllable.

In the internet age you get a lot of hype re gear. It was great to see people walk up, use the amp, probably not know what it was and like it. I was, ooh that PRS sounds great, GOLDTOP!!!, he sounds good-it's a Junior, then the Tele players waded in... So it was a proper education for me as I usually use a lot of pedals.

2 - Cupid's Dead is definitely one of those songs where you need rehearsal to pull it off. Lots of rehearsal.

It probably helps if the drummer starts it at the posted 121 bpm, rather than 145 bpm that I did. :)
We did well to get through it.

To be fair, I should also have called it and we could've had another (more relaxed) go ;)
