Poly's Off - Naked Baja!!

What's Hot
Love this guitar it is such a player (as the name suggests) but hated the glossy plastic coat, so started to strip this baby!

Think I am going to oil it up to show off the lovely ash grain, but open to suggestions...

This is not going to be a fast project as I am "supposed" to be finishing off an extension, but managed to squeeze in some time to get this off the ground!

Oh Yes!! Did you strip it? That grain is too nice to hide

  • @djspecialist is that a P90 in the neck?

Yes, I think it's an Oil City Mighty 90 prototype - and the bridge is a Bareknuckle Flat 50.

Both were installed by the previous owner, a certain @juansolo, who also stripped and oiled the body.

Very cool indeed. I am a fan of the twisted Tele neck pup, but I do love a P90!  I would consider something a bit more beefy in the bridge tho as the broadcaster seems a bit screechy to me

Yup, you'd have to ask Ash what the pup is, I think it might even be a one-off he had in his drawer that I got. But it was one he'd made specifically for a Tele, works nice and matches surprisingly well with the BKP in the bridge. Jon at Feline did the routing and the pickguard for it.

The refinish job is here for that one: http://juansolo.co.uk/stompage/bajage.html

I used a Genuine Fender Bakelite guard on mine when I did this.
£40 from Richtone, looked and fitted great and it was a matt finish, not gloss.

Jon at Feline did my paint stripping and oil finish (and the Photo).
Boy did that guitar sing !

It's simply the replacement Fender part for the '52 AVRI Tele.
It's almost certainly available from other Fender dealers as well.
    ;)

How did you strip off the original coating - heat gun or sanding?? I want to do the same with a squire tele thinline.

Did? Does that mean you don't have it anymore?
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.
