he starts of stating 'I have actually placed this listing for a relative'

then goes on to say 'been toured extensively since my ownership'  'repair was done before I purchased'  'I have played this guitar in 21 different countries'

He appears to be up front about 'negative' issues regarding finish, headstock repair etc  - I don't use e-bay so better FB members around then me to comment about is validity and what to do about it

He's in breach anyway by requesting off eBay contact, presumably to avoid fees and buyer protection.

    Expect it to disappear

  • Seller is based in China..via Sheffield.

Nothing against either...but wouldn't be walking away here, I'd be breaking out into a jog.

Seems dodgy to me, the email issue is suspect. I reported a similar listing a day or so ago and have reported this one too.

I think he talks you out of buying the guitar, and sells you a tractor instead.

The scammer is hoping someone will contact them directly on the email address in the listing. They will then send a fake PayPal invoice which you will pay, delirious with the thought of the bargain you've just snagged.  The scary thing is people do fall for this, it was on a Watchdog type tv prog recently. Poor woman had paid for a £10k campervan.

Also, the Ebay account is genuine, but it's been hacked.

Does anyone seriously bid for guitars worth hundreds of pounds on eBay?

How on earth do you filter out the wronguns, chibsons etc?

Simply inform eBay that the seller is trying to avoid eBay fees and they will pull the advert way quicker than because the public are going to be ripped off

It is indeed!!  Every time I get an alert from eBay about  a 55 junior I get excited, then see it's this same old scam.

Yes, i do all the time. The scams are obvious (if you know what to look for) and if the item isn’t as described ebay always favour the buyer. You just have to ask for and study the pics very carefully.
