Tell me what amp I want - EL84 with EF86 and preferably with reverb

Some form of AC30? A Bad Cat Black Cat if I can actually find one? Is there a Dr Z amongst their immense range that meets these specs? Jackson Britain? (No verb on that one). What else haven't I thought of? Should I just save up for a Matchless? Should I have kept my Artisan 15 instead of trading it in at Richtone for a pittance to get some recording gear*?

Anything British made? (It winds me up a little bit the though of importing an American made version of a classic British style of amp)

Probably prefer a head to a combo.

*Yes, yes I should have kept it.

If I went with a combo it would have to be a 2x12.

Thornton Dexter, but you would need an external reverb. Built in Yorkshire.

Bad Cat Cub III 15 or 30 (or Black Cat if you want 2 channels).  Or the USA Player Series if you're on a tighter budget. For my money they're absolutely the best real-world EL84 amps going - really good master volumes make them so flexible.

Ask a UK based builder to make you one. Rift or me for example :-)

I think you've answered your own question...

    DC30.

There's one in the classifieds for a couple of grand.

  • Dr Z Maz 18 covers a lot of different tones, the "Cut" feature is awesome, there is a Reverb version too. Head is always a better option.

Probably the best amp ever made imho.

I played a Samson era one - a genuine milestone playing experience - if you like what they do, nothing comes close in my experience.
