I don't do Facebook but looked at this thread to find out why you want people to tell you that they like you.  Do FB Likes work as some kind of virtual currency? (Genuine question, why do people care sufficiently about the number of likes they get, to go and ask for them on a forum like this?)

It simply makes your band seem popular, so when someone from a venue looks they'll think "blimey they must be good with a following like that, let's book 'em"

A good way to get more profile for your band, is to get a discussion going here that mentions the band's name.

Google loves our content, and searches for a phrase are ranked highly in their search results.

For now, a thread in "Making Music" or this section, with an embedded vid or SoundClip (or three) and some work to get people talking about the content, should help.

We are talking about (or intending) to have a section specifically for "plug my band" in the nearish future.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Exactly - Landlords look at you FB page and the number of likes puts you in a good bargaining position

We actually already had a thread for this:

    http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/31249/

It even has interesting discussion on whether farming likes is worth it or not.

What that thread lacks (but soon won't ) is the most important hyperlink of all:

    https://de-de.facebook.com/cyrencerocks/

Who knows, we might actually come back from hiatus if we get enough likes.

    I miss making animal noises.

    :bawling:

    Kind of, yes.

When your band (or business) page passes various Likes milestones Facebook credit you with an advertising budget to boost your page.

For example, massively boosting the number of people who see your band's latest post costs about £4, when my band hit 500 likes they gave us £30 credit.

Also, if you're in a band which is serious about going places promoters will first check how much of a stir you're causing on social media.

This thread does highlight just how difficult it is to get a like on Facebook, we always ask at gigs for people to hit the like button, and although they obviously do like us as we have quite a following locally, no-one ever does.  Think we need a cute puppy as a band mascot!

This thread, is a direct plea to a bunch of people that you would assume to be sympathetic to a fellow musician, and it's had 143 views out of which  we got 3 likes.  Thanks to the 3, and I've reciprocated. :)

My band is probably very different to most of the facebook band pages on here. I lead the band on clarinet and we play what we call "Mediterranean Klezmer Funk". We are an "electric" band, Clarinet, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, but it's all original and pretty eastern sounding.

We're currently 9 likes away from a grand of likes. I've just liked all the links on this page and would be happy for anyone to reciprocate!

I'm guessing quite a large proportion of this forum won't dig us but worth a try.

@Dopesick Well, I don't have FB, but having read this, I'll be having a listen:

"Formed in the summer of 2015, we are a bowel annihilating brew of pissed off sludgy dense hardcore with some snippets of old school death metal, crust punk and swaggering stoner doom. Prepare for that trip to the dry cleaners afterwards"
