All I can say is I've just come back from my my gig in Bristol using my germanium veteran and it tore the place down. So many tones it the thing and face melts for the solos etc ;)

I've never understood the love for germanium. All my favourite fuzzes and treble boosters have been silicon.
@Sassafras ; Silicon is like a nasty, nylon shirt. Germanium is like a warm, wooly jumper.

Definitely try an axis fuzz - it's not the nastier, less responsive fuzz people think of when they think silicon!

Crazy clean up on the volume pot, even with the fuzz and volume maxed out - just like a *good* germanium fuzz. Expensive new, but kits are available and if I can build it anyone can.

    Sadly, not buffer friendly...

@thorpyfx does the silicon version play nicely with a G2 or best to stick it in front?

Took delivery of the germanium version today and waiting on the silicon variant. The Ge is an amazing pedal. Particularly likes my strat but sounds great with anything (and I haven't really played with the smooth and bias controls yet, just had a quick blast).

I'd like to hear if you have any problems with the G2 @kjdowd ? I take it that you are asking because of the buffers in the G2?

I’ve designed it and used it with my G2, no issues at all.

Yeah, he’s done a great job of demoing  the pedal, really thorough.

Even better. Does that mean it doesn't mind buffers as much then Adrian? If so I just might have to get one lol Not really a problem anyway as I can tuen the input buffer off on my Boss ES 5

I'd find it tough to sell my germanium one though. Life is so cruel to have to make such decisions

  • I watched both the videos and the Si Pedal really sounds superb, much like all the other pedals the Major has put his name on which is to be expected!

The new Si Pedal like the other Thorpy fuzz/distortion/overdrive pedals are incredibly multi faceted and seem to have a really wide dynamic range of tonal varieties.

Has anyone messed with the internal trim pots? or am I mistaken? I see grit and bias.
