This is  just one of the songs performed on the day.

Just as a taster / tease for the rest of the soon-to-be-released footage.

There are  30-odd songs recorded in sound, and maybe a dozen for which we've also got video.  Just waiting on those involved confirming that they're OK to have it released.

This is all unprocessed / raw footage.  @strumjoughlamps ;; may be along later with much better quality versions.

@impmann is out of shot doing the lead work, and @horse is  on keys.

Worth keeping in mind that (a) none of us had played together before, and (b) there was no rehearsal prior to the song being played, just grab an instrument and get going ...

If you look really really carefully you can even see me smile a bit and not grimace all the way through.

And yes, that's me playing bass and not just playing root notes but actually playing some runs, and some other bits and bobs (after about 10 mins practice ;) )

Massive kudos to @bigjon, cracking playing from @impmann.

Does anyone know who the geezer is playing rhythm? He just wandered in off the street and started playing random chords.... ;)

Unfortunately, the way the camera was set up, Mr Horse is out of shot all day long, and the guitarist/s likewise for most of the songs.
    :(

Also, we've got 30-odd tracks of sound, but only about a dozen of video (because the card in the camera ran out of space).  Although we do have footage of long periods when the camera was recording people wandering around and talking ...

That's a learning for next time - if it's to be videod, we need more active control on the camera.

  • So my powerslide on my knees and playing with my teeth solo on "Foxey Lady" wasn't captured on film? Grrr

    ;-)

Yep - I didn't use anything else on the day. I brought the Jazzmaster but it never got a look in.

Aww, it did nothing wrong... ;-)

TBH, that sound is as much to do with @slacker 's superb Matchless Lightning 15 amp with the Fulldrive pushing it.

It's always the same with these big name bands, hiding the session players in the wings, pretending they're doing it all themselves...

    So what model is your Goldtop @impmann ;

I thought it looked and sounded lovely, I remember you saying it was a special edition?

Similar indeed. Much smaller neck though. I don’t think they had the smoked Perspex control cavity covers, not sure on the orange drop caps and the pots on them...

The early versions of these are just wonderful instruments. The later ones (dark backs etc) weren’t quite the same.

Like the ones mentioned above? Yes, the early ones (2011/12) seem to be very nice - But I wasn’t so keen on the neck. My Goldtop has a big neck and it’s super comfy
