Ok, this is over 4 hrs long but you can listen to it in dribs and drabs without losing the continuity as they cover a lot of subjects on whisky, VH, Guthrie Govan and of course their products and other builders and nerdy bits.

There's lots talked about, and revealed. They're honest and it's funny. It's just like a couple of blokes/musicians talking down the pub. I particularly took to John Suhr

They start to slur towards the end of the vid.

  • Any idea when they speak about Van Halen?  It's too long a listen for me to be honest.

@bingefeller -It's interspersed throughout but they first start talking about VH after 3-4 mins and it goes on for a bit on his modded Marshall.

Given who's here, you can expect chat about their main clients like Lukather, Landau, Henderson, Steve Stevens, Thornley etc and their counter-parts, where these guys got their beginnings and amps/guitars they'd worked on, which include Van Halen.

Ooh, I'd missed this post first time around, thanks for the bump! I'll definitely listen, I loved John Suhr on GuitarWank, where he told some cool stories.

@bingefeller I listen to podcasts when doing tedious chores, seldom in one go for longer ones. Currently 80 minutes in on some two hours plus of Thomas Lang on I'd Hit That, which is killer. sunglasses

EDIT: I initially wrote Blug, not Lang. D'oh.

Ahh you've tempted me into it.  I'll download and listen to it over the next few days when I'm on the train.

Some of the VH stories are funny/sad - beer in a coffee cup etc and others are interesting about his amps.

The episode with Bruce Egnater is brilliant

Indeed and there are some 'kind' reveals about artists and builders.

Ok. Try this, which is just the first hour:-

First 3 mins - chit chat, introductions
3 - 18"  - Van Halen and his modded Marshall and associated stories
    22" - Bowie
24" - Photographers (Ross Halfin etc)
    28" 50' - Suhr & amp building
    32.15" - Suhr's dog
    34" - Leslie West
    49" 10' Suhr's Charm story and electrocution
55" - Suhr's stories about working at Rudy's (Mike Stern, Lou Reed etc)

Interesting bits as and when I come across them:-

    1:42" and at 2:45:09- Eric Clapton's amp

From this point, it's listener's questions:-

2:58:12 - 3:07:10 - Guthrie Govan and why he left Suhr (interesting)

3:07:30 - Ian Thornley of Big Wreck

Reb Beach, Kirk Hammett, Dumbles, Steve Farris, Suhr Hedgehog Amps, Strandbergs, Billy Gibbons, Govt Mule (Warren Haynes), Modellers, Jeff Beck, Bruce Egnater

I've watched Part 2 as well.

I've enjoyed both of these and agree, John Suhr seems like a top guy and has not only the knowledge, but the stories, too, and tells them so well.

If you haven't done so already, I really do recommend giving Part 1 a whirl (watch snippets).
