Simply post in this thread your top three choices in order, 1st choice first etc etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Note for Entrants of the competition: Self Voting is NOT Allowed)

Voting will be open until 11.30pm on 11th December, and the winners will be announced shortly after.

(you can edit your vote up to the time voting closes)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A reminder of the competition Guidelines:

"What I'd like to hear when I open a Christmas Card".

Inspired by those wonderfully "tasteful" cards that play a tune when you open them, but it might equally be what's playing on the radio at the time, or whatever musical accompaniment you might choose to have when you open Christmas cards.

The composition can be as simple or a complex as you choose to make it, but there's a time limit of 90 seconds (otherwise the battery in the card will run out), and please submit in mp3 format.

Below is a link to the entries. Thanks to @steamabacus for the playlist picture.

    £50 off any set of Oil City pickups (costing over £100).
    Pretty much all of us know Ash and his products, and many of us already have the benefit of his pickups in our guitars.
    But if you've somehow not stumbled across them yet, take a look at:  http://www.oilcitypickups.co.uk/index.html
  • Donated by the Major @ThorpyFX ;;;;;;;;
    A CHAIN HOME Tremelo pedal.
    I might just have saved the best-til-last with this one!
    For all the detail on this - and all his other pedals - check the website (and read some of the recommendations) at https://thorpyfx.com/

    Some nice work in there - which is no great surprise, knowing the quality of work that usually gets submitted to these challenges - and some fun interpretations of the theme too.

    Excellent work, all.
      :+1:
    Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    Great work guys, I'm a bit embarrassed by mine now having listened to the standard of others!

  • Some great entries. For a while there, I was worried I was going to be the only one who didn't interpret a christmas carol. Bah, humbug!  :)

    It's Christmas so I'm looking for something upbeat, loud and full of joy ...

    @BRISTOL86 ; - 5 mince pies  - clear winner .. quiet intro followed by full bore rock out over the turkey .. even grandma digs this ..

    @DulcetJones - 3 mince pies - Django and the Quintette du Hot Club de Fretboard .. grandma got hot under the collar to this ..

    @kriszuki - 1 mince pie  - grandma was up dancing to this Greek influenced Crimbo piece ..

    Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

    Very difficult to pick. My final selections appear to be influenced by countries overseas.

    5 points @kriszuki ;  Lively Greek style tune with some very nifty picking.
    3 points @DulcetJones ;  Another lively tune. Nice Spanish flavoured guitar playing.
    1 point @Fretwired ;  Very creative piece with clever melodic variations to give it a Russian slant.

    Really looking forward to listening to these when I get home from work - well done everyone who managed to get an entry in (unlike my half-finished shitus opus ;-) )

  • Crikey, some wonderfully skillful playing on here, I'm really torn on my votes, there are great re-workings of Christmas favourites and some cool original stuff too. My votes reflect the path I took as I wanted to stay away from the regular Christmas stuff and just do something "I want to hear when I open my Christmas Card".

    So, the other tunes I'd like to hear when I open a Christmas Card are as follows:

    5 Points @Winny_Pooh ;

    3 Points @kin ;

    1 Point @steamabacus ;
