Been offered a bass... should I bite 'is 'and off?

  Yeah, it belongs to my band's bass player. He's always had great tone with with that and his Stingray or Mexi Precision (even before, in fact, with a transistor amp and dirt pedals – his tone's probably in his fingers). I love grind in a bass sound. He was a bit put out by the lack of frets on the ATK, I think he'd get it refretted if it were up to him, but it ain't! The growl was there for me, awesome.
