This one in a dark Oxblood please, light relic treatment too, and no rear binding. Are you taking commissions again?!

I threw the F-hole in for a bit of fun, but it does look great... quite a bit more work in it though
I can't really see that putting you off too much....  ;)

Les Paul Custom with a Gretsch White Falcon pickup in the neck and  out of phase wiring. Ridiculously light strings as well.

He preferred the Les Paul Personal which he had modified, although he plays a Brandin signature LP these days with TV Jones pickups.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

Definitely this one with a staple pickup in the neck position
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I have pretty much given up on having a uk made staple pickup for the time being.   I know mojo has done the research but working on other stuff first

but I might repeat the faux dynasonic idea since that is what inspired the staple in the first place.  TBH, that might happen whichever design I go with.

seems like it's a pretty unanimous vote, I'd love one of them with a staple too

SD seems to be the only one making correct ones

You know what, I am not that bothered about "correct" staples.   I don't need them fully adjustable and i certainly don't want to pay the SD price for all that extra metal work that will never get used.  it also helps make the vintage ones fairly microphonic.   I just want the coil size, magnet layout and (most importantly???) the aesthetics of a vintage staple

    that gives us these

    and these

I like lollars... i could go that way

I completely agree with what youve just said, it's becoming a habit

If it gave the look and tone of the staple pickup I couldn't care less who and how they made it as long as it wasn't anywhere near sd money i'd use it

56 customs are one of my favourite guitars too

  • I'm looking forward to watching this build. Being a 1956 baby I'm working on a 1956-style Strat, next project is a 1956-style blonde Tele, and after that I really ought to do a 1956-style LP. I prefer a black beauty to a gold top - so I plan on stealing all your good ideas. ;)

    a decision has been made

    That's the rough sawn face,
    ....and the smooth back

So there will be a burst in my near future

but i am also considering a custom still, so there may be two

I have a firebird to build first, then these will begin

so a less perfectly flamed version of this

or maybe even a bit darker - i love a dark burst
