    In my opinion, a beginner might be better served by a four string.

    Regardless of string count, if the recipient takes to the instrument, it will be necessary to buy another one fairly soon.

    Looks like it might come from the same factory as the Thomann Harley Benton and digital village JD models.   They are supposedly ok - cheaper starter that could serve as a backup later on.    
    I agree that I’d suggest starting on a 4 though.

    Great price but I tend to find you need to spend a good amount of money for a decent 5 string.
