My new car arrived 3 days ago and it's super uncomfortable.... :(

I ordered a new Audi A4 Sport on a lease, and it arrived on Tuesday, it's a lovely car on a very good deal, but my god the seats are uncomfortable.

I know "why do you buy a car that is uncomfortable ?" - well when I tested it it seemed fine, but after a few days it's really giving my back grief...

Had an S3 a few years ago... after two months ended up with “jeep disease”... google it... wasn’t fun... Audi seem to build the comfort out of their cars!!!!

A problem with sports models, often super hard suspension, great for the track but not UK pot holed roads. Ever wonder why lotus are famous for ride and handling? They time the cars for UK country lanes, fairly soft suspension but stiff anti roll bars. German cars are designed for autobahn.

German cars in particular seem to be built to go around the Nurburgring ...and forgetting that they also have to go around the m25 and the South circular.

assuming you have tried all possible adjustments:

is it faulty?
can you get them to replace with a different one?
you could get some after market seat and fit it for the 2 years

My wife's Volvo gives me a lot of backache, luckily I don't go in it all the time

Every Audi with ‘Sport’ somewhere in its name is bloody uncomfortable in my experience. Unremittingly hard and jarring....

Softer Audis usually ride much better - but are much less sharp when cornering. Given that the reality of modern driving is being stuck in a traffic jam, or cruising on a motorway, I’d take the non-sport set-up every time.

Is it the ride or the seats that are uncomfortable? If it's the seats, I'd give it a while, I've have a few cars that I thought I would not get on with the seats and after a month or so they turned out ok. Sometimes little tweaks to the position can make a big difference.

Ever wondered what the four rings were on the Audi badge? Yep, they are the four ring cushions needed to sit comfortably in one. The jarring ride will soon damage your brain and then you'll drive like a true Audi owner. Send it back.

I suffer from that as does my father and daughter.......you have to be genetically pre-disposed by having a minute fissure at the base of the coxix where the skin has never totally closed since we lost our tails through evolution.........it's actually very common................anyway,I'm going back to get on with my cave-painting and making a stone axe

You can also leave it double parked or on double yellows while you just nip in the shop.

I've ridden dozens of laps of the Nordschleife. It's a very good approximation of varying road surfaces, including bumps on the racing line. If a car is comfortable there it will be fine on the M25 as long as the clutch isn't too heavy for stop/start traffic. Because that's the real London driving challenge...

+1 for see how the seats wear in for a few weeks. You'll probably get used to it and they'll get used to you.

True story - I knew someone who bought a new Escort XR3i and complained bitterly about the hard ride. When inspected, they found the car had been sold without taking out the spacers which protected the shock absorbers and stopped them from moving! Removed them and all was well.

I’ve suffered from a bad back and had major spinal surgery last year. I had a job earlier this year where the owner of the company had a big flash Audi. One trip down to the Manchester office was enough for me to say I would never go in the car again. Everything about the seat design seemed wrong, almost counter intuitive.

Well I've come to the conclusion that I have 3 options, 1- see if I can get used to the seats , 2 - see if I can give it back , 3 - buy a comfy drivers seat on eBay and switch them for 2 years.
It's not the ride that's the problem it's the shape of the seats, they have side bolster things that dig into my back. Weird thing is I'm not a wide person, I'm tall and slim , I can't imagine how anyone remotely portly would drive one of these cars

I bought a 2016 A3 TDI Sport a few months ago and find the seats really comfortable. Certainly firm but supportive and comfortable. I do wish they had an adjustable lumbar support but other than that I really like them.

Have you tried the different drive selections to see if they make any difference?

I used to use a backfriend for long journeys. Don’t look the best in a nice car but stop aches and pains.

My BMW MSport is like that. You'll get used to it. Low c of g, hard suspension and big tyres make for a decent drive.
