Is it me or is this incomprehensible.
Saw this video on another forum and was left scratching my head with my mouth hung open - (not a good look).

It all made sense to me apart from the God bit (but he is contractually obliged to say that stuff as an American)
His delivery does ramble a bit here and there but the whole subtractive physics stuff is pretty correct, and funnily enough I had come to very similar thoughts in terms of materials and construction methods.

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

    +1

The key word in Paul's TED Talk is subtractive.

Any constructional feature of an acoustic instrument that attenuates sympathetic vibration reduces the amount of sound that it can produce. In simple terms, sustain will be reduced. On a purely mechanical level, a solid body electric guitar still has to behave like an acoustic one until the point at which the pickups and amplification get involved.
    Be seeing you.

I've never seen a video that I understand yet still have no idea what he's trying to accomplish. Construction to tone to a tribute to the armed forces.

I couldn't be bothered watching it all. If everybody wanted a 5.9 he might have a point. But we don't some want a 4.6 or a 5.2, etc, etc... so it's BS.

    good answers guys.
yup - I'm surprised he didn't go into a customary fit of greetin (crying) to optimize the 'heart felt' aspect.
It occurred to me whilst watching it that I'd love to see a discussion with him and the likes of Alan Caruth (sp?) John Arnold and the like.

Sounds like "the boss" of a firm describing ideas in a rambling way, in his own private language, because no one ever dared offer constructive criticism.
There are some basic ideas in there that are sound, but 95% vague delivery
